As the excitement builds ahead of the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony in just a few days’ time, Eurostar, the official partner of the French and Belgian National Paralympic Committees, is proud to be carrying the French and Belgian Paralympic teams into London as they begin their inspirational journeys to the Games.
Two Eurostar trains have undergone a series of unique modifications, which have for the first time enabled the Paralympians to travel to the Games together as one team. The programme of modifications has made it possible to carry up to 18 Paralympic athletes in wheelchairs as well as hundreds of other athletes, many with special travel needs.
On Saturday, the arriving French Paralympians will be greeted on the platform by former British Paralympic 800m sprinter, Danny Crates, who won gold in Athens. Also on hand to welcome the French and Belgian athletes during the weekend will be ‘The Kaos Signing Choir for Deaf and Hearing Children’, who gave an emotional performance at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony.
