Techogym, the Italian wellness company, has been unveiled the London 2012 Olympic Village gymnasium in its role as official fitness equipment supplier to the London 2012 Games.
Technogym have designed and equipped all of the on-site gymnasiums that will house all the athletes this summer, as well as the 19 preparation centres especially designed for the 38 Olympic and 21 Paralympic disciplines.
Technogym have played a central role in designing the 2,500sq. ft. gym, supplying 750 pieces of training equipment and providing the Olympic Village gym with a team of over 100 professional personal trainers to manage the training centres, support the athletes, and advise on gym installation and usage. As well as the communal gym in the Village, Technogym have created 19 smaller gyms inside the sport-specific venues, designed to cater to individual athletes’ needs.
London 2012 will represent the 5th Olympic Games where Technogym has been the official supplier of gym equipment to the Olympic Village, following similar arrangements in Sydney in 2000, Athens 2004, the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006 and in Beijing in 2008. From humble beginnings in a small town garage, Technogym now employs over 1,400 employees worldwide and exports 85% of its production to 100 countries from its global headquarters in Cesena, Italy. It is estimated that Technogym equipment is used in 50,000 fitness centres and 20,000 private residences globally
