Sunderland AFC and the global business initiative Invest In Africa announced a pioneering partnership at the Wearside club’s ground, The Stadium of Light earlier today.
Invest in Africa was unveiled as the club’s principa shirt sponsor in a deal that will start from the beginning of the 2012/13 season. The Invest in Africa brand will be displayed on the team’s kit throughout the year at over 50 matches per season, to the Premier League’s global audience of 4.7bn viewers.
Invest in Africa is a global business initiative that will challenge misconceptions and share the expertise of leading investors in Africa to drive new investment into a continent that is open for business. The partnership with Sunderland AFC provides a high profile platform for the brand to take Invest in Africa’s message to a worldwide audience.
Africa’s largest independent oil company, Tullow Oil plc. is the initial Founding Partner of the initiative which aims to encourage long-term investment across the continent to help create jobs with local African companies and empower the local market.
