New research released today by Play England reveals 90% of adults played out regularly in their street as children, however 29% of today’s children say they don’t play or hang out in their street at all. The research also reveals that 50% of parents say there aren’t enough places for their children to play safely where they live without an adult.
Today sees Robinsons announce its partnership with TV star and celebrity mum of two, Patsy Kensit launch its Parents for Playgrounds campaign. It asks parents to nominate a playground close to them that is need of repair, to give it the chance of winning a renovation bursary of up to £15,000. The Parents for Playgrounds campaign is also backed by Play England and is designed to promote and preserve traditional outdoor play around the country and help the UK’s children stay active, healthy and happy.
To nominate playgrounds local to them that are in need of repair via its new parenting website www.readyforten.com from 15th February to the 16th of March 2011. During that month, supporter of ‘Parents for Playgrounds’ and mum to two boys, Patsy Kensit, will become guest editor of Ready for Ten to encourage other parents to get involved in the mission and get nominating!
