SATURDAY 17 APRIL 2010: Exclusive footage is available of Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo from an exclusive event last night in Madrid, in which the football superstar was challenged to a unique sporting duel – against himself.
The mercurial Portuguese winger was set a test of speed, power and agility at ‘Challenge Ronaldo’ – coming face-to-face with a giant version of himself at the one-off spectacular race in the Spanish capital, hosted by 2010 FIFA World Cup™ sponsor Castrol.
Ronaldo lined up against a giant nine metre high avatar version of himself – filmed earlier in the year – to race in a dribble over a 24 metre course. The event gave a glimpse into the talent of one of the world’s best footballers, to give football fans around the world a deeper insight into what it takes to produce winning performances. Twenty lucky fans were also given the opportunity of a lifetime; selected from over 20,000 competition entrants around the world to compete against the giant Ronaldo at the event, in an attempt to match or beat the star’s time.
The football star reflected on the year ahead including life at Real Madrid, his team’s La Liga set back against Barcelona, the final stage of the Champions League and Portugal’s chances at the impending World Cup.
