Unemployed quantity surveyor Richard Conway is embarking on a dream job after beating thousands of entrants in the search to become the first blogging globetrotter for travel website lastminute.com

Richard postponed travelling with his peers in favour of focusing on his career. He was recently made redundant from his job as a Quantity Surveyor and decided that he would explore a career change. With 40% of UK workplaces affected by the current economic climate making more than million people unemployed, more people than ever are considering a career change. In fact, research reveals 4 out of 10 said that they would like career in travel if they were made redundant. 6% would like to be a holiday rep, whereas more than a third of the UK would like to be a travel journalist or photographer if they were made redundant.
